Description

beta-Lipotropin (61-91), secreted by the pituitary gland, is the most potent of the opiate peptides and is more effective than morphine in tests of opiate receptor binding, analgesia and catatonia. High doses of beta-endorphin may cause rigidity and hypothermia in rats.
