Description
Human galanin, originally been isolated from colon and pituitary, that activates the rat galanin receptor and inhibits acetylcholine release, glutamate release and carbachol-stimulated phosphatidylinositol hydrolysis in the hippocampus. Recent studies indicated that galanin is also linked to behavioral and cognitive deficits in Alzheimer’s disease.
