Description
SPARC is a transiently expressed extracellular matrix-binding protein that alters cell shape and regulates endothelial cell proliferation in vitro. KGHK , a copper-binding peptide fragment, has been shown to be a potent stimulator of angiogenesis. Specific degradation of SPARC by proteases of the extracellular fluid may release this bioactive peptide.
